Professional Dietitian me Posted: 2010-01-27 21:05:09
My family has never received help from a dietitian. We all used to be fit and slim until about 5 years ago. Our lifestyle has become more sedentary. Now half of us are popping at the seams. We know that we need to be more active. A brand new YMCA opened a block away. When our family went for the tour we loved it. When we saw how much a family membership would cost, our hopes went out the window. We aren't "poor enough" to qualify for help but our middle income family cannot afford the cost of the membership. This happens a lot with city run programs. The working middle class never catches a break. While I see Tim Horton's sponsoring kids to attend their summer camps, we don't qualify. We can't afford to send our kids to a camp like Tim Horton's but again, the middle class families get no help. The list goes on and on. I don't think we need a dietitian. We do need to get more active though.
